Mental health success is nothing like traditional success

And that’s what makes living with it so hard.

Because the world around us doesn’t bend

And we never fit its mould

But it’s also what makes me a warrior

Because success for me is

I am up, I don’t stink, I have clean underwear on, I am able to talk to another human

and this living thing?

I am at it

AND! And! and I have captured a moment of “I’m truly ok” in the day.

How was this Art Therapy for Self?

A gentle, soothing medium on yummy “paper” (this one is digital). I enjoyed the flow as I created something that felt earthy and simple and acknowledging growth all at once. And I drew two “flowers” to symbolise that growth often feels like very different layers colliding with one another but, if we stop to notice, stop to smell those roses, we see growth. Today I needed to stop and notice. And now I feel far more accepting of where I am at.

The writing felt like a beautiful mantra for myself today. I’ll read it each time I stumble.
